History: Raised 1685 as the Earl of Peterborough's Horse. Become in 1746 2nd, or Queen's Dragoon Guards. In 1959 amalgamated with 1st King's Dragoon Guards, British Army to form 1st The Queen's Dragoon Guards, British Army

Official blazon

The word Bays in old English lettering wihtin a wreath of laurel, with the crown above between the ends of the wreath. In gilt or gilding metal.

Origin/meaning

The badge alludes to the name of the Regiment. This orignated as a nickname because since the mid 18th Century the Regiment was mounted on Bay Horses. And in 1870 the word was officialy incorporated into the Regimental Title.
