Origin/meaning

The Oak Tree is from the arms of the Donnellan Family of Galway, Ireland. The Tinctures are those of Ireland and St Patrick and symbolises the Time when Archbishop Donnellan worked at the St Patrick's Cathedral in New York. The Ermine spots alludes to the arms of Francis Cardinal Spellman, Archbishop of New York 1939-1967, who consecrated Donnellan both Priest and Bishop. The Spearpoint alludes to St Thomas and the Frist Name of the Archbishop. The Saltire alludes to St Andrew and the Archbishop's Middle Name Andrew.
