Origin/meaning
As common in US episcopal heraldry, the arms show the arms of the diocese impaled with the personal arms of the bishop.
The ship is an old O'Leary emblem. The star is from the Bishop's former Ordinary (Guertin of Manchester); the three lance heads are the heraldic attributes of St. Thomas, the Apostle, his name Patron.
The motto means " I have chosen the way of truth" and is taken from Psalm 118: 30
