TURNU MĂGURELE

District/county (județ) : Teleorman

Stema Turnu Măgurele

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on June 9, 2000.

The tower reminds of the old defense constructions made since the time of the ruler Mircea cel Bătrân; the base symbolises of the geographical area in which the city is built.

The caduceus, an attribute of the god Mercury, reveals the contribution of the settlement to the development of trade from the 14th century to the present day (customs point).

The anchor evokes the fact that the settlement is a port, and the wavy base alludes to the foundations that have been built over time in the city and evokes, in particular, the Roman line of defense built by Septimius Severus in the area.

The mural crown with the five towers symbolizes the urban community and attests that the coat of arms belongs to a municipality.
