History: Constituted as 439 Army Air Force Band on 6 April 1943. Activated on 5 April 1943. Redesignated as: 739 Army Band on 31 December 1943; 739 Army Air Forces Band on 8 March 1944. Inactivated on 20 October 1945. Redesignated as 739 Air Force Band on 26 September 1947. Activated on 10 May 1955. Redesignated as United States Air Force Academy Band on 8 March 1958: USAF Band of the Rockies on 1 July 1993; Band of the Rockies on 1 July 1994; United States Air Force Band of the Rockies on 1 May 1997; United States Air Force Academy Band on 1 October 2003.
