District/county (județ) : Botoșani

Stema Ungureni

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on April 9, 2014.

The book refers to the first Popular University in Romania, which was established in this locality, having an important role in spreading culture and education among the rural population.

The sheep is reminiscent of the old Transylvanian shepherds who settled in these lands and gave the name of the locality.

The wavy strip represents the hydrographic richness of the area, the Jijia river that crosses the locality.

The mural crown with a crenellated tower means that the locality has the rank of commune.
