Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on ?

The shield is identical to that of the Valencia de Don Juan family, with the addition of the letters Coyança, the name of the village in Galician. The bordure is based on the Portuguese arms, as in 1387 Infante (Crown Prince) João of Portugal was made Duke of of Valencia de Campos by the King of Castilla.
