Origin/meaning

The arms were registered on September 10, 2020.

The name Velkký Luh (German Groß loh) comes from the old German word ′′Lohe′′ indicating grove, but also wetland and the Czech word ′′luh′′ has the same meaning. Therefore the shield of the emblem is logically green, also, as the municipality is largely covered in forests and meadows.

The base is silver and blue, and symbolizes the many flooded kaolin (= white clay) quarries, extensive water areas, streams and wetlands. The gold symbolises the local mining of high quality (golden) sand.

The red dragonfly represents a very rare species of red dragonfly, Crocothemis erythraea, and refers to the presence of these dragonflies around the village.
