WAREN (MÜRITZ)
State : Mecklenburg-Vorpommern
District (Kreis) : Mecklenburgische Seenplatte (until 2011 Müritz)
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on April 10, 1858, and re-designed (above right) in 1993.
Waren received city rights around 1270. The oldest known seal of the city dates from 1344 and already shows the same composition as the above arms. The city wall symbolises the city character of Waren. The crest in the chief and the bull are taken from the arms of the Lords of Werle, who founded the city. The waves symbolise the Müritz lake.
