Shoulder Sleeve Insignia. Description: On a gold disk 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in diameter edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) green border the head and headdress of an American Indian chief in green. Surrounding the Indian is the inscription “WASHINGTON-MARION MAGNET HIGH SCHOOL” in green letters.

Shoulder Loop Insignia. Description: A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Vert, issuant from base a mounted Native American warrior traversed on a demi-horse blanketed and bridled, the reins garnished with three eagle feathers. Astride the horse and holding the reins in dexter hand, sinister arm raised to chief and grasping a spear in bend point to sinister, a warrior habited in fringed buckskin trousers, an arm-band, and a headband in the design of triangles nine and ten with one eagle feather attached thereto. Attached below the shield a Green scroll inscribed “CHARGING INDIANS” in Gold metal letters.

Origin/meaning

Shoulder Sleeve Insignia: Green and gold are the school colors. The Charging Indian is the school mascot.

Shoulder Loop Insignia: Green and gold are the school colors. The “Charging Indians” are the school’s mascot and reflects the challenging role of the cadets.

The Shoulder Sleeve Insignia and the Shoulder Loop Insignia was both approved on 27 September 2000.
