Wappen von Weissenstein

Official blazon

In Gold ein aus dem Schildrand emporkommender, obeliskenförmiger silberner Stein, den zwei zugewendete rote Löwen halten.

Origin/meaning

Weissenstein was already mentioned as a city in the 14th century, but no seals or arms are known until the early 19th century. The oldest seal dates from 1835 and already shows the same arms as above. The lions are derived from the arms of the Lords of Rechberg, Lords of Weissenstein in the 14th century. The monument is canting, Weissenstein means white-stone.
