German In Rot eine blaue gestürzte halbe Spitze, darin zwischen zwei goldenen Schindeln ein rotbezungter und golden-bekrönter goldener Löwenkopf: vorn ein sechsspeichiges silbernes Rad und hinten eine silberne Scheibe, belegt mit einem roten Kreuz; über allem ein Dreiblatt aus silbernen Eichenblättern.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on January 16, 1990.

The chief shows the head of the lion of Nassau, as the village was first mentioned in 1132 as a possession of the Counts of Lauenburg (later of Nassau).

The area of the current municipality historically belonged to the Counts of Nassau, and the States of Trier and Mainz. The colours are those of Nassau (gold/blue) and Trier and Mainz (silver/red). The cross is the symbol of trier, the wheel the symbol of Mainz.

The three oak leaves symbolise the three villages of Welterod, Strüth and Lipporn, as well as the forests in the municipality.
