Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on October 6, 1928.
The arms are derived from the arms of the medieval Lords of Wolfurt, who are known since 1221. The arms are shown in colour in the Ems Chronicle from 1616 and on these the above arms are based. The municipality already adopted the arms in its seal from 1893, but without the colours. The arms in itself are canting, a wolf fording (Furten) a river.
