ZAPOLYARNY RAYON (Заполярный район)

Federal subject : Nenets Autonomous Okrug

Coat of arms (crest) of Zapolyarny Rayon

Official blazon

The arms were granted on May 29, 2008.

The red circle in the center of the arms symbolizes not only the Nenets musical instrument - penzer (shamanic tambourine), which personifies the connection with the past, but also the sun as the source of all life on Earth.

The division of the shield into silver and azure symbolises snow and ice, the polar nights and day, and a clear day over the endless expanses of the Arctic Ocean.

The 19 golden birds symbolically reflect the 19 settlements that are located on the territory of the district. The flight of birds along a closed circle symbolizes the course of time, the cyclical nature of life, and the continuity of the life cycle. The inner gold rim is made up of a traditional Nenets design.
