ZAWIERCIE

Province: Śląsk
County: Zawiercie

Coat of arms (crest) of Zawiercie
Official blazon
Polish blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The church in the right half of the arms represents the first church built in Zawiercie (Collegiate Church of St. Peter and Paul), the blue bend the Warta river and the hammers in the base symbolize the industrial character of the city. The green colour refers to the nature around the city.

The left half shows horizontal bars for the local mines and a lightning bolt for the power stations in the city. The arms replaced older arms, adopted around 1966. These arms, shown below, show a cogwheel for industry, the Warta river, the mines and a symolised needle for the textile industry.
