Official blazon

  • (1819) Van goud beladen met twee roode hennip braaken de heften kruis gewijs geplaatst, en staande op een terras van groen.
  • (1840) Een gulden schild,met twee roode braeken liggende op eene groene hoogte, de steelen kruyselings over malkanderen gesteld.
  • (modern blazon : In goud twee vlasbraken van keel, de stelen schuingekruist, op een losse grasgrond geplaatst)

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on October 20, 1819 and confirmed on October 28, 1840.

The arms are derived from the late 17th century seal of the village and show two tools (a kind of hammer) as used in the flax cultivation and linen industry.
