ZLATÉ MORAVCE

Province : Nitra
District (okres) : Zlaté Moravce

Zlaté Moravce (Erb, znak)

Official blazon

V modrom štíte skrížené trojzubé kľúče - zlatý a strieborný, prevýšené strieborným polmesiacom a zlatou položenou hviezdou.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 1991.

The arms are based on a seal of the town from the 16th century. The two crossed keys are the symbol of St. Peter. St. Peter, however is not the local patron saint, but probably was the patron saint of a monastery that existed in medieval times in the area. The crescent and star are probably referring to eternity. The colours are probably chosen arbitrarily.
