Official blazon

  • (1845) D'argent, à la croix de sable, chargée de cinq cocuilles de St. Jacques, d'or, accompagnée, au 1er canton, d'une merlette de gueules.
  • (1989) In zilver een kruis van sabel, beladen met vijf Sint-Jacobsschelpen van goud en vergezeld in het eerste kwartier van een mereltje van keel.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on February 25, 1845 and again on May 9, 1989.

The arms are derived from the arms of Uitkerke, as historically the area was part of the estate of Uitkerke. To distinguish the arms from the arms of Uitkerke, a merlet was added.
