Origin/meaning

The arms show a wavy bar with seven smaller silver waves, creating 8 blue bars, one for each of the former municipalities. Together they form a new entity near the Rhein river. Blue symbolising the river, but was also a colour of nearly all arms of the former municipalities.

The arms were chosen by a local referendum with 5 different other proposals :

All proposals show elements of the Rhein (the proposed name was also Rheintal) and/or 10 items for the originally 10 municipalities involved in the merger. The original winning proposal also had more silver bars.
