Origin/meaning

The arms are those of the De Zuydpeene family (or Van Zuydpeene), former lords of the place for several centuries. The Van Zuydpeene house was a branch of the De Saint-Omer family (with similar arms), which had changed its name in the 14th century to take that of its estate.
