KERKEN
State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
District (Kreis) : Kleve (until 1969 Geldern)
Additions : 1969 Amt Aldekerk, Amt Nieukerk, Aldekerk, Eyll, Nieukerk, Stenden
Official blazon
- (de) Gespalten von rot und silber (weiß), darin über je einer Mispelblüte eine Kirche in verwechselten Farben.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on November 16, 1971.
The two churches are canting elements (Kirch = kerk = church), for Aldekerk and Nieukerk. The two roses are the old symbol of Geldern and represent Eyll and Stenden, which were possessions of the dukes of Geldern.
