- (de) In Schwarz, aus einer silbernen Mauer wachsend und zwei Zinnen in den rotbewehrten Pranken haltend, ein hersehender rotbewehrter goldener Löwe mit roter Krone.
Origin/meaning
The arms show the lion derived from the arms of the Vögten von Gera, who ruled the city prior to 1500. The city received city rights in 1438 and the arms are probably granted at the same time.
The arms thus show a city wall protected by the lion of the rulers at the time.
