BETTENDORF
State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
District (Kreis) : Aachen (until 1971 Jülich)
Incorporated into : 1972 Alsdorf
Official blazon
- (de) *(de) Fünfmal geteilt von Schwarz und Gold, belegt mit einem links angeschrägten wachsenden roten Hirtenstab mit silberner Krümme.
- (en) Barry of six sable and Or, charged with a croziers sinister gules issauant with a crook Argent.
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted in 1963.
They show the arms of the powerful Lords of Pallandt of the County, later Duchy of Jülich. The crozier symbolises the patron saint of the village, Wendelin.
