English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were devised in 1951 and granted on March 11, 1952.
The arms are based on 15th century arms of the local Benedictine monastery. The lower part of the arms is canting (animal-head or Tier-Haupt). The upper part shows the diamonds of the arms of Bayern (Bavaria), indicating that the monastery has always been subject to the Dukes of Bayern. The village Thierhaupten belonged to 1803 to the monastery and ever since to Bayern. The arms of the monastery where thus considered appropriate for the village.
Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
