BARKENHOLM
State : Schleswig-Holstein
District (Kreis) : Dithmarschen
Amt : Amt Kirchspielslandgemeinde Eider (until 2008 Amt Kirchspielslandgemeinde Hennstedt)
German |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on March 6, 2002.
The birch leaf is a canting element, the name means birch-island. The municipality consists of two different landcapes; in the North the sandy parts and in the South the marsklands. These are separated by the Broklandsau river. This geographical situation is shown in the arms. The tiles in the lower half symbolise the former 7 tile factories in the municipality.
