Origin/meaning
The arms were granted in 1928 and the town became an official city in 1958.
The arms are a combination of the patron saint, St. Dionysius, combined with (half) the arms of the counts of Kleve. The town belonged to the counts of Kleve. Walsum became more important during this century as some industry developed.
