Origin/meaning

The Lamb symbolises Christ and the Puertorican ancestry of the Archbishop. The Staff symbolises the strenght that springs from the unity between the Shepherd (the Bishop) and his flock (the Congregation). The Wave symbolises Water and the Archbishop Marino's Home State Mississippi named for the Great River. The Chevron alludes to membership in the Society of St Joseph and the Holy Heart (SSJ). St Joseph was a Carpenter and the chevron symbolises a Carpenter's Square.
