- (Arch)Decanates, groups of parishes
- Cathedrals, the main church in a diocese and seat of an (arch)bishop
- Basilicas, churches with a special status, which may be a cathedral
- Chapters, a group of religious and non religious persons responsible for running a church
- Dioceses, headed by a Bishop, sometimes supported by an Auxiliary Bishop
- Archdioceses, headed by an Archbishop, often supported by an Auxiliary Bishop
- Dioceses and Archdioceses directly under the pope, not part of an ecclesiastical province
- Military Ordinariates, dioceses for the military services
- Prelatures and Vicarates, areas which are not (yet) part of a diocese
- Officials of the church. This includes priests, deans, prelates and other officials not directly related to an (arch)diocese, convent or abbey.
