Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1949, against the wish of the local council.

Until 1949 the council only used a seal with the letters KH. The calf's head (Kalb) is a canting element, although the name has nothing to do with calves. The colours are those of the former estates of Helmstatt (silver-black) and Gemmingen (blue-gold).
