Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on ??
The upper part shows the lion of the Duchy of Julich, to which the village hostorically belonged. The lion holds an anchor in his paws, symbol of St. Clement, the local patron saint. The base is derived from the arms of the Lords of Merode, who owned the estate of Hemmersbach from the 14th until the 17th century.
