Origin/meaning

The first quarter symbolises the priesthood. The second shows the symbol of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, of which he was a member. The third shows a castle, as a symbol for the city of Naarden (NL), where he was born. The fourth shows Saint Nicholas of Tolentino, the patron saint of the Diocese of Surigao.
