Origin/meaning

The arms were designed and granted on January 11, 1921.

The mountain in the base symbolises the three former municipalities (Ruhpolding, Vachenau and Zell), out of which the new municipality (linden tree) rises. The small shield shows a cross with an axe. The small St. Valentines chapel in the municipality is probably situated on the site of an old place of justice (Thing, Ding). The latetr is symbolised by the axe, the chapel by the stone cross that stands in front of it. The wavy bar symbolises the Traun river.

Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
