State : Bayern
Incorporated into : 1975 Main-Spessart, Aschaffenburg
German | blazon wanted |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted in 1969.
The arms show a wavy pale as a symbol for the Main river and an oak leaf for the Spessart mountains in the district. The right half shows in the upper part the wheel of the State of Mainz, above the bars from the arms of the Counts of Rieneck. The Counts had several estates in the district before 1559.
Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
