Wappen von Leuna

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on June 11, 1996.

The chimney symbolises the important Leuna-werk chemical factory. This factory was also part of the previous arms of the city (see image below), where it was combined with a plough for agriculture. In the new arms the six stars symbolise the former 6 villages, that are now part of the city (Leuna, Ockendorf, Rössen, Göhlitzsch, Daspig and Kröllwitz). The base shows a green city wall, as Leuna is considered a very green city. The plough iron replaced the old plough in the arms.
