VOHENSTRAUSS (VOH)

State : Bayern
Incorporated into : 1973 Neustadt an der Waldnaab

Wappen von Vohenstrauss (kreis)

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on November 9, 1965.

The upper part of the arms shows the arms of the Pfalz. The castle in Vohenstrauss was for a long time one of the main castles of the Counts of the Pfalz. The blue bar in silver is the arms of the Counts of Leuchtenburg, whose castle was also situated in the district. The red bar is taken from the arms of the Princes of Lobkowitz, who were Lords of Waldthurn and Waldau. Their arms were of silver with a red chief.
