WASSERALFINGEN
State : Baden-Württemberg
District (Kreis) : Ostalbkreis (until 1972 Aalen)
Incorporated into : 1972 Aalen
Official blazon
In Blau ein aus dem linken Schildrand hervorbrechender, schwarz gekleideter Rechtarm, der aus drei silbernen Wellenleisten im Schildfuß einen goldenen Aal greift.
Origin/meaning
The town grew rapidly due to the mining industry. The first iron factory was built in 1668/71, but the real growth started in the 19th century.
The mining tools in the upper right corner are a symbol thereof. The wavy bars and the eel are canting (Wasser=water, Aal=eel). The colours are taken from the colours of the arms of the local Ahelfingen family.
