Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on Februay 3, 1936.
The towers on the wall symbolise the Schalksburg, the headquarters of the Lords of Berge who ruled the area in the 14th and 15th century. The eagle wing is taken from the arms of the Lords of Berge.
The colours are the colours of the former Diocese of Minden.
