BAD SODEN
State : Hessen
District (Kreis) : Main-Kinzig Kreis (until 1972 Schlüchtern)
Incorporated into : 1972 Bad Soden-Salmünster
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The oldest seal of the city dates from the 14th century and shows the local patron saint St. Bonifatius, with a small shield with the arms of Fulda (black cross), as the city was part of the State of Fulda. In the 19th century the local seals showed a plough iron and a staff of Mercury, symbolising agriculture and trade. In 1900 the above arms were designed, based on the oldest seal, in which the saint was replaced by a crosier and in the base a fountain as symbol for the health resort was added.
The arms by Hupp in the Kaffee Hag albums +/- 1925 |
