Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on September 11, 1959.

The arms show in the upper half the golden lion, used by the free territory until the end of the 17^th century. The lower half shows two water lily leaves, as a symbol for the former lakes and ponds in the area. The iron symbolises the combination of the two villages of Ramlingen and Ehlershausen.
