Bishop of Córdoba, 2000-present)

Origin/meaning

The first quarter shows a tree and a lion, taken from the arms of ??. In the arms of the bishop they represent the name "Eduardo" that in old Saxon means "the guardian of the garden or the inheritance".

The second quarter shows the Cerro de la Silla mountains near Monterrey, where the bishop originates from. The star is a symbol for St. Mary and hope.

The third quarter shows a scroll representing the Book of the Word of God and the Greek letters ALPHA and OMEGA, which in the Apocalypse refer to our Lord Jesus Christ, Beginning and End of Life and the history of Salvation.

The palm and qcqueduct are taken from the old seal of the city of Córdoba.

The dove is taken from the symbolism of the Holy Year 2000, which had 5 doves as its logo. The diocese was founded in the year 2000.
