DIOCESE OF RIO GRANDE

Denomination : Anglican
Established : 1874 as the Missionary District of New Mexico and Arizona. Becoming in 1952 the Episcopal Diocese of New Mexico and Southwest Texas
Renamed as the Diocese of Rio Grande in 1973.

Or, a calvary cross issuant gules charged in base with amitre with infulae all or, all between in fess at dexter an New Mexico sun and at sinister s mullet, both gules.

Origin/meaning

The Sun and Star symbolizes the Two States which the Diocese is located in, New Mexico and Texas. Which is gathered about their Lord symbolized by the Cross.
