  • (bishop) Quarterly: 1st gyronny of eight; 2nd a lymphad flagged sails furled oars in action; 3rd a lion rampant; 4th a fess chequy.
  • (archbishop) Gyronny of eight Or and Sable, a cross counter-changed and having its extremities expanded upon the edges of the shield.

Origin/meaning

The archiepiscopal arms were officially granted in 1945.

The arms as bishop are those of the Campbell of Lochdochart clan, with the 3rd and 4th quarters transposed. He also used the arms impaled with the arms of the diocese, see his seal below.

Arms of Donald Alphonsus Campbell

As archbishop he used the traditional Campbell arms (gyronny shield) combined with a cross as a Christian symbol.
