German	Origin/meaning Jockgrim was a possession of the Archbishops of Speyer and received city rights in the late 14^th century. The oldest seal of the city dates from the late 18^th century and already shows the letter A. In 1925 the arms were officially granted. The meaning of the A is not clear, it may be derived from a plough iron, but this is not certain.
