Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on December 14, 1582 by Archduke Ferdinand of Austria.

The lion is most likely the lion of Habsburg, which is combined with symbols of the viticulture, which plays a large role in the local economy. The hand probably indicates the loyalty to the house of Habsburg.

Seal of Sipplingen

Seal from around 1900
