THE SHERWOOD FORESTERS (NOTTINGHAMSHIRE AND DERBYSHIRE REGIMENT), BRITISH ARMY
History: Raised in 1741 as the 45th Foot and in 1823 as the 95th Foot. In 1881 those two Regiments become the 1st and 2nd Battalions of the Sherwood Foresters (Derbyshire Regiment), redesignated in 1902 The Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment). In 1970 amalgamated with The Worcestershire Regiment, British Army to form The Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment, British Army
Official blazon
A Maltese Cross surmounted by a Crown; in the centre of the cross a wreath of oak, and within the wreath a stag lodged on a blue enamel ground; on the left arm of the cross and across the left branch of the wreath a hlaf-scroll inscribed Sherwood ; on the right arms of the cross and across the right branch of the wreath a half-scroll inscribed Foresters; below the cross a scroll inscribed Notts & Derby. All in silver plate except the title scroll, which is in gilt or gilding metal.
