Shield: Azure, a pale Argent fretty of the field.
Crest: That for the regiments and separate battalions of the Wisconsin Army National Guard: From a wreath Argent and Azure, a badger couchant Proper.
Motto: AETERNUS VIGILANTIS (Eternal Vigilance).

Distinctive Unit Insignia. Description: A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Azure, a pale Argent fretty of the field. Attached below the shield is a silver scroll inscribed "AETERNUS VIGILANTIS" in blue letters. Attached above the shield on a wreath alternating white and blue, the crest for the state of Wisconsin all silver.


Origin/meaning

The service of the former organization, the 426th Infantry, is indicated by colors blue and white which represents Infantry. The interlaced bands symbolize the binding together of existing companies to organize the regiment.

The arms were originally approved for the 426 Infantry Regiment, Wisconsin Army National Guard on 30 July 1953. It was rescinded (cancelled) on 29 September 1976. On 25 March 1998, the Coat of Arms was approved for the 426th Regiment, Wisconsin Army National Guard with blazon and symbolism revised. The Distinctive Unit Insignia was originally approved for the 426th Regiment Infantry on 30 July 1953. It was amended for the 426th Infantry Regiment, Wisconsin Army National Guard on 30 November 1953. On 29 September 1976, the insignia was rescinded (cancelled). The Distinctive Unit Insignia was authorized for the 426th Regiment, Wisconsin Army National Guard, with description and symbolism revised, on 25 March 1998.
