Official blazon

Shoulder Sleeve Insignia. Description: A rectangular device with corners curved in base all edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) yellow border, the overall dimensions 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 2 3/4 inches (6.99 cm) in width consisting of a white rectangular background fimbriated with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) purple vertical border on each side and a purple horizontal scroll attached above and below the white center which bears a purple panther’s head in profile couped at the neck above a purple horizontal key; on the top scroll the inscription “CYPRESS” and on the lower scroll the inscription “LAKE”, all letters white, 5/16 inch (.79 cm) in heigh.

Shoulder Loop Insignia. Description: A gold color metal and enamel device 1 inch (2.54 cm) in height overall consisting of a purple cougar head couped with white teeth and red tongue; above a gold diagonal scroll inscribed “PRIDE” in white letters.

Origin/meaning

Purple, white and gold are the school colors and stand for honor, purpose and achievement. The panther is the school mascot and represents determination and strength.

The Shoulder Sleeve Insignia was approved on 21 June 1977. The Shoulder Loop Insignia was approved on 11 June 1997.
