Origin/meaning

The Pelican is canting. The Badge was approved 19 December 1962. Serveral ships have been named Pelikaan the most recent was a Supply Ship in Service 1948-1972, an a Communication Vessel in the Netherlands Antilles 1990-2005. In 2006 she was replaced by a newbuilt ship with the same role.
