Origin/meaning

The wavy chief refers to the proximity of the Sajó River. The blue-red colors of the shield are taken from the arms of the Rákóczi family, to which the village historically belonged. The eagle is also taken from the Rákóczi arms, but changed from black to gold. The plough iron indicates the agricultural character of the village.

The crest is taken from the armorial bearings of the Ákos family, as the oldest known owner of the village was István Ákos in 1241.
