Origin/meaningI have no information on the meaning of the arms. Any information is welcome ! The above arms were never officially granted, but were proposed in 1956. The arms showed the wheel of the State of Mainz, combined with the letter A. The wheel was often seen as a free quarter in images of the arms throughout the city.
